The IKEA® Projekt credit card * is a store-only, low introductory APR card for IKEA purchases. The card does not earn rewards and is only intended for financing larger home purchases from IKEA of at least $500. Otherwise, there are no benefits or uses to having the IKEA Projekt credit card. If you regularly finance the purchase of cabinets or furniture with names you’ll spend all day trying to pronounce, this card may be for you—but pay close attention to the terms and conditions.
IKEA® Projekt credit card *Our ratings take into account the card’s rewards, fees, rates along with the card’s category. All ratings are determined solely by our editorial team.
Welcome Bonus Annual Fee Regular APR 21.99% variable Credit Score Good, ExcellentCredit Score ranges are based on FICO® credit scoring. This is just one scoring method and a credit card issuer may use another method when considering your application. These are provided as guidelines only and approval is not guaranteed.
With the national average cost of household furnishings around $16,000 according to HomeAdvisor, some may want help financing these purchases. The IKEA® Projekt credit card * offers a 0% introductory APR for 6, 12 or 24 months for qualifying purchases, followed by a 21.99% variable APR on purchases.
Each new home improvement project purchase made on the card is financed in special tiers with six, 12 and 24 months of low introductory interest if the minimums of $500, $1,000 and $2,500 respectively are met. Minimum payments are required on each credit plan (each financed purchase) and minimum payments do not guarantee paying off the purchase amount by the end of the introductory APR period.
If you buy $6,000 in cabinetry, your purchase will qualify for a 24-month 0% APR credit plan with minimum payments. After the 24-month period, the APR will increase to 21.99% variable. If you then purchase a couch for $750, you will be given a separate credit plan for that purchase with six months of 0% APR. After the six months, 21.99% variable applies.

The IKEA Projekt credit card offers a 0% introductory APR for 6, 12 or 24 months for qualifying purchases, followed by a 21.99% variable APR on purchases.
The Citi Custom Cash® Card earns a uniquely designed 5% cash back on purchases in a top eligible spend category up to the first $500 spent each billing cycle, 4% cash back on hotels, car rentals, and attractions booked on Citi Travel℠ portal through 6/30/2025 and 1% cash back on all other purchases and may be used anywhere Mastercard is accepted. The no-annual-fee card also offers a 0% introductory APR for 15 months from date of account opening on purchases and from date of first transfer for balance transfers completed within 4 months of account opening. After that, the variable APR will be 19.24% - 29.24%, based on creditworthiness. There is also a balance transfer fee of 5% of each balance transfer; $5 minimum.
For those planning home renovations or redesigns and want to take advantage of financing (albeit with a more limited window of opportunity), the Citi Custom Cash may be a better bet than the IKEA® Projekt credit card * —especially since it can be used at other stores and for earning rewards in other categories.
The IKEA® Projekt credit card * is better for continued renovations or redesigns with IKEA only. But for others, a card like the Citi Custom Cash will probably have longer-term usefulness.
If Comenity, the issuing bank, combined the IKEA® Visa® credit card * and the IKEA® Projekt credit card * , they’d have one solid credit card. The IKEA Visa offers no introductory financing options but does earn 5% back in rewards on IKEA purchases, including Traemand installation and TaskRabbit assembly services, 3% back in rewards on dining, grocery stores and utility purchases and 1% back in rewards on all other purchases made with your IKEA Visa credit card.
Those looking to finance purchases with 0% introductory APR periods at IKEA will want to look closely at the IKEA Projekt’s terms before applying. Those who want to earn rewards on purchases at IKEA and elsewhere but imagine spending those rewards only at IKEA should consider the IKEA Visa.
With vague advertising, the Upgrade Triple Cash Rewards Visa¹ doesn’t make immediately clear that the card offers lines of credit with payment plans—not your standard credit card revolving line of credit. For this reason, we encourage every potential applicant for the Upgrade Triple Cash Rewards Visa to carefully read through all terms and conditions. With credit lines from $500 to $25,000 and unique rewards of 3% unlimited cash back on home, auto and health categories and 1% unlimited cash back on everything else after you make payments on your purchases, the card could be an appealing option for those who may not qualify for a traditional credit card with rewards on home furnishings.
For those who want financing with rewards and are willing to take the risk on a loan disguised as a credit card, the Upgrade Triple Cash Rewards may offer an easier repayment plan. The monthly payments are a fixed amount and not subject to revolving interest rates like with a credit card.
